Reflections & Changes…

A few weeks ago I had the most incredible opportunity to attend a workshop with my heroes. Truly it was a dream come true. I attended a Baby as Art workshop in San Diego instructed by Carrie & Britt who are renowned for their excellence in newborn portraiture. The workshop was everything I imagined it to be and more. It was an entire day filled with Aha moments for me, not just in my photography but also my life.

I got to spend 10 blissful hours of travel reflecting on the past year in business, I realized that I got caught up in my excitement of my new business, taking on as many sessions as I possibly could fit in, learning and growing & trying to make everyone happy. I realized my little boy is growing up quickly, too quickly, and Im busy working. Don’t get me wrong I LOVE photography, and I absolutely adore what I do, I just need to find a better balance.

So I have decided to make some big and exciting changes to Milk & Honey. I will be taking on a limited number of sessions per month. I have been forgetting to give myself down-time away from the computer and camera, ask all my friends ( hey are you gals still out there?! ) So in order to balance my life I will be working less.

I have also decided to change up my pricing & product line. I have been doing almost 100% digital files and to be totally honest, not loving how my work is being printed through labs like Costco & London Drugs. I will still be keeping digital files as I think its important to own your “negatives” however I will be including print credits for each package. Im sure my clients will be as excited as I am.  Pro quality photography on Pro quality paper! Gorgeous birth announcemets that look like hallmark cards, and albums that look like a hard cover book….dreamy! And yes I realize the prices are a little higher, but you get sooooo much more!

I will be changing my packages, you can get a little Milk & Honey with a few digital files and few prints or you can get the whole shebang. Its custom portraiture that you can customize to your budget.

I have also decided Im striving for Excellence not striving for Average, I want to be amazing and I want my art & my clients investments to be displayed as they should be,…AS ART!

I have only been at this photography thing for a year, but I want to learn and grow, to continue to challenge myself and to evolve to be the best photographer i can be. I dream of someday being the CANADIAN Anne Geddes, yup Im putting that out there. LOL I constantly evaluate how I can improve my images, I will continue to take workshops taught by the industries best. In my quest for excellence I will be offering products ( albums, canvases and prints) that I feel display Milk & Honey at its very best.

Custom portraiture isn’t cheap. It does cost money but it is well worth it.

So thats my news, I will be offering some sales in the next few weeks so definitely stay tuned, and to check out my new pricing effective June 15 head over to www.milkandhoneyphotography.caand check out Pricing in 3 easy steps… ( currently booked clients until June will remain with current pricing)

Peace & Love

That is wonderful news! Your work belongs on big, beautiful canvas gallery wraps and displayed in gorgeous coffee table books with thick, rich pages.

Your clients will be so grateful you have added this extra service, and I truly believe your work will become part of their treasured family history that is passed down to the next generation.

Photos help tell our family stories, and as mothers, we are (for the most part), the ones responsible for keeping these stories alive for our grandchildren.

Congratulations on this new direction!

Jenn
