(My personal project to help document this time in my families life )

My sweet little boy grabbed the cheese block off the counter while my husband was making sandwiches,
and went and quietly sat at his craft table. We discovered our little mouse quietly chomping away.

{Photo-a-Day Project: A personal project that I will post one photo a day of my family.}

A new year.
Happy New year everyone!
Over the last couple of years I have seen other photographers do photos a day projects. Some do it for the entire year, and some do it just for January, Im playing it by ear. I just loved the idea. The goal is to photograph your children daily. I know doing this project will become a treasured collection to me.

There has been something weighing on my heart the last few months. Why are so many photographers so mean to other photographers???
Im not sure why there is a culture of making fun of others, laughing about others pricing, processing or techniques, but in all honesty Im sick of it.
No one was born a master at Anything? Even Picasso was probably some kid with a box of crayons at one point. right?
Just because someone isn’t as far on their journey as someone else doesn’t give someone else the right to belittle, make fun of, steal their work, put it up on some “fauxtographer” blog for the world to make fun of. ( not that this has happened to me) But Its cruel & unnecessary. How would you feel if people you admired made fun of your early work? Its just not right.
AND Just because a person does something one way doesn’t make it wrong?
Its OK to not love Light room
Its OK to Love Light room
Its OK to use Actions
Its OK to not use actions
Its OK to only use natural light
Its OK to only use studio lights
Its OK to have a home based studio
Its OK to have a store front studio
Its OK to be YOU!
I really think we need to stop caring so much about what everyone else is doing. What works for you? Take your eyes off the rest of the world and look at your self? Art your clients happy, are you happy? and are you continuing to learn, grow, try new things, and let yourself fail?
My point really is, lets stop all this judgement, name calling ( Fauxtographer, MWAC) Everyone starts somewhere. It really doesn’t matter what anyone else is doing with their photography or business, if they use selective color & heavy vingnettes thats their perogitive. What matters is YOU, how you advance your self to be the best photographer & person you can be. Be Kind.
I encourage you for 2012 to focus on yourself, your personal growth and your business.
With much Love, Light & Gratitude to you and yours this holiday season!!!

I have waiting for MONTHS to photograph Mama C. Its not every day you get to photograph one of your best friends. My dear sweet friend is radiant, and completely glowing! This mama to be is as gorgeous on the inside as she is on the outside. She was completely up for anything and so comfortable in her own skin, It was an incredible experience for me to really express my artistic side. Here are some faves…
